When I first moved into my current office I found myself struggling to get one of the locks on the back door to open. No matter how hard I jiggled the key, the door stayed obstinately locked. My friend C. was there watching, and finally said, "Let me try it." Jiggle, swish, click, and the door opened.

"How did you do that, C.?"

He smiled and said, "I noticed that when you jiggled the key in the lock that you only moved it from side to side. I tried moving it up and down instead."

I learned a lot more than how to get keys to turn in locks at that moment.
